Brad Jordan, best known as Scarface from legendary rap group Geto Boys, announced on Sunday (June 9) his bid for Houston City Council.
The news came just one day before fellow Geto Boys member Bushwick Bill died of pancreatic cancer.
If elected, Scarface will represent the city's district D, which includes includes the Texas Medical Center, the Astrodome area, Museum District, Texas Southern University and the University of Houston, according to the Houston Chronicle.
The schools in the district are familiar territory for the Houston native, who is a founding member of The Positive Purpose Movement, which creates education and empowerment programs for underrepresented communities.
The current council seat is held by Councilman Dwight Boykins, who recently filed to run for mayor. See Scarface's announcement via Instagram below.
